Amizade means “friendship,” and that is exactly what participants on this trip have the opportunity to give to street-children in Brazil. Amizade participants work with a non-profit group that reaches out to these children by helping with a building project for a local community center. A group of ten students, a returning student leader and a faculty/staff leader will help with the construction efforts and get a chance to interact with the local children. During the two week trip, participants work with the local people and amongst the children and go on educational excursions to the rainforest, down the Amazon river, and through many different towns. The trip is organized through Volunteer Services and Amizade, Ltd (www.amizade.org) and it departs immediately following spring exams.
