What is Project Pumpkin?

Project Pumpkin, an event sponsored by the Volunteer Service Corps, is an annual service event at Wake Forest University that was started in 1988 to bring together the campus and Winston-Salem communities. Each year more than 1,000 children from local agencies are escorted to the Reynolda campus where students and faculty combine to provide a safe environment for trick-or-treating, carnival games, clowns, and entertainment. The annual event takes place each October. This year the event will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 27, 2009.

Thank you, Food Lion!

Thank you to Food Lion for generously supporting Project Pumpkin 2009! Food Lion contributed several hundred dollars worth of candy and apples that were given out during the event to the 1000+ children that attended. In addition, a group of District and Store Managers from the Winston-Salem area participated in the event by hosting a booth where they handed out additional snacks. It was also a special treat to have the Food Lion mascot also at the event to greet the children! Thank you again, Food Lion, for your commitment to Project Pumpkin! We look forward to working with you again in the future!
